Workshop on Systematic Review Writing

Malang, August 28, 2025 — In order to improve the quality and quantity of scientific publications, particularly in the form of systematic reviews, the Doctoral Program in Medical Science (DPMS), Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya (FMUB), organized a Workshop on Systematic Review Writing. The event was attended by new doctoral students of the 2025/2026 Odd Semester, as well as senior students and faculty members.

The workshop, held at RK 3, 6th Floor, Building A FMUB, featuring expert speaker Dr. Mirza Zaka Pratama, Sp.PD, M.Biomed. In the opening remarks, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya, Prof. dr. Mohammad Saifur Rohman, Sp.JP(K), Ph.D., emphasized the importance of systematic review writing skills for lecturers, researchers, and postgraduate students.

“A systematic review is a highly valued type of scientific publication in the academic world, as it systematically and critically summarizes and analyzes various research findings. This workshop is expected to provide valuable insights and skills for participants in producing high-quality publications,” he stated.

The workshop topics included an Introduction and Fundamentals of Systematic Review using Artificial Intelligence (AI), along with hands-on practice in literature searching and selection, and AI-based systematic review preparation.

Participants were also given the opportunity to directly practice developing the initial framework of a systematic review, including formulating research questions using the PICO format, searching literature through PubMed and Scopus databases, and using software such as Mendeley and Rayyan. New students, in particular, showed great enthusiasm, as these skills are expected to support them in graduating on time according to their academic targets.

With such high enthusiasm from participants every semester, the study program hopes to broaden students’ perspectives on scientific publication, especially through the use of Artificial Intelligence technology.
