Malang, September 22, 2025 — As part of efforts to improve public health, particularly among children with special medical conditions, the Doctoral Program in Medical Science (DPMS) Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya (FMUB) in collaboration with the Ophthalmology Study Program carried out a community service activity in the form of eye health examinations. This program was specifically targeted at children who are members of the Association of Children with Kidney Disorders (PAKG). The activity took place at dr. Saiful Anwar General Hospital, East Java Province.
The purpose of this eye health screening was to enable early detection of vision problems that may be experienced by children with kidney disorders, as impaired kidney function can significantly affect eye health. Through early detection, appropriate treatment can be provided, thereby improving their quality of life. During the event, the team from the Ophthalmology Study Program conducted comprehensive examinations, including vision evaluation and other relevant eye assessments. The initiative was warmly welcomed by the pediatric nephrology specialist team, who stated that this program greatly supported the health and well-being of children with kidney disorders in Malang.
Building on the success of this activity, the Doctoral Program in Medical Science (DPMS) and the Ophthalmology Study Program are committed to continuing similar collaborations in the future, with the aim of expanding eye health screening and education to other special groups
