ADMISSION SYSTEM
Admission of new students for the Doctoral Program in Medical Sciences is inclusive (does not discriminate based on ethnicity, race, religion, social group, origin, or disability).
The new student admission system considers the following:

- Academic Requirements
- MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory) Test
- Interview
ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a related or non-related field with a minimum GPA of 3.00 (scale 0–4).
- Two recommendation letters from lecturers/supervisors or the head of the study program from the most recent institution, attesting to the applicant’s academic eligibility.
- Assignment letter or study permit from employer (if the applicant is employed). For lecturers at public or private universities, the permit must be issued by the Rector/Dean/Coordinator of Higher Education. For applicants from the Ministry of Health or other institutions, the permit must be issued by the Head of the Department or Hospital Director, stating whether the applicant is granted study leave (tubel) or study permission (ibel).
- Medical certificate, including a statement of being drug-free, issued by a government hospital.
- Statement of funding source and/or guarantor for study financing.
- Recent color photograph, size 4×6.
- Copy of National Identity Card (KTP).
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
- Valid TPA-OTO BAPPENAS certificate with a minimum score of 500. Valid TOEFL ITP certificate (test administered by the program or online via FEB UB: https://ldc.feb.ub.ac.id/programs/toefl-test/).
- Research outline (maximum 5 pages) for the proposed doctoral dissertation.
- Applicants in Biomedical Science: Master’s degree in Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Medicine (Specialist), Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Nursing, Midwifery, Pharmacy, Life Sciences (Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science, Reproductive Biology), Nutrition, or Sports Health Science.
- Applicants in Reproductive Biology: Master’s degree in Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Medicine (Specialist), Veterinary Medicine, Nursing, Midwifery, Life Sciences (Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science, Reproductive Biology), or Nutrition.
- Applicants in Social Medicine: Master’s degree in Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Medicine (Specialist), Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Nursing, Midwifery, Nutrition, Environmental Health, or Public Health.
- Applicants in Medical Technology: Master’s degree in Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Medicine (Specialist), Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy, Life Sciences (Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science, Reproductive Biology), or Sports Health Science. Applicants with a non-medical background are also eligible if holding a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Informatics Engineering, Computer Science, or Biomedical Engineering. Such applicants must provide a matriculation completion certificate issued by the Doctoral Program in Medical Science, FKUB.
- For the by-research scheme, applicants must have:
- One granted patent; or
- One reputable international publication; or
- Two accredited national publications (minimum SINTA 2).
In addition, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is required, acknowledging learning outcomes acquired through formal education, non-formal education, and/or work experience. Evidence must be provided in the form of certificates or supervisor’s reference letters.
MMPI TEST
The MMPI test is coordinated by the Doctoral Program in Medical Science and conducted before the interview. Applicants bear the cost of the test, which is separate from the registration fee.
INTERVIEW
- Conducted after administrative and academic requirements are verified and the applicant passes the MMPI test (proof submitted via email: fk@ub.ac.id).
- The interview assesses the applicant’s readiness and commitment to complete the program within the stipulated time.
- Applicants are required to give a brief presentation of their research outline (PowerPoint format), which will be evaluated for novelty, depth, and feasibility.
REGISTRATION MECHANISM
Steps for Graduate Program Admission (Master’s, Doctoral, and Doctoral Jakarta Campus):
- Create an account at https://admisi.ub.ac.id.
- Select the intended program on the dashboard.
- Request a Payment Code.
- Pay the registration fee at any BRI, Mandiri, or BNI bank across Indonesia (all payment channels available) using the Payment Code.
- Registration fees paid are non-refundable for any reason. Ensure the payment matches the chosen program. Follow the payment procedures for BRI, Mandiri, or BNI banks.
- Confirm payment and complete the registration form at https://admisi.ub.ac.id.
- Select the intended program according to the requirements listed.
- Upload required documents (general requirements and program-specific requirements).
- Print the admission card.
